The folks at Solid Clouds in Iceland announced Starborne: Frontiers, a persistent space MMO set in their Starborne universe. Here’s what you need to know.

the Starborne the universe expands with this persistent MMO. In case you missed it, the RTS Starborne hosted a beta earlier this year and also shared some stats, including:

  • Eight servers launched in just over three weeks
  • 99,000 outposts created
  • More than 72,000 stations built
  • More than 7000 alliances formed
  • Over 1.3 million hexes claimed

Today, this universe expands with Starborne: Frontiers. In this new MMO, you will have to forge alliances while exploring a vast universe. Stefán Gunnarsson, the CEO of Solid Clouds, explained this announcement,

I’m very excited to be able to tell deeper stories with our games. We got together and built the technical foundation that will allow us to really dive into this huge universe and give our players more elaborate stories and role-playing elements. We’ve put enough work into the factions and characters of Starborne to fill a book or two, and now we can finally share it with the world – it’s incredibly rewarding.”

Borders will differ from RTS in several ways. On the one hand, you will travel to the farthest reaches of civilized space teaming up with your friends and building up your strength in both PvE and PvP. To follow the game more closely, be sure to check out their main game site.

Starborne: Frontiers is slated for a soft launch in December, with an official launch in May 2022 on PC and mobile.
