Need help getting into the world of this new VR MMO? Check out our Zenith tips for quick help.
As with any MMO, your opening hours in RamenVR’s multiplayer epic are likely to be quite overwhelming, with new systems and mechanics thrown at you at a steady pace, and the game doesn’t explain every facet down to the smallest detail. We’ve put together a quick guide to help guide you through the start of the game.
Swords or spells?
For the early game, character creation in Zenith comes down to two major choices: do you want to use swords or spells? These are essentially the game’s ranged and melee classes, with the former arming you with two katanas and the latter giving you two projectile-firing gauntlets. They will also decide what special attacks called Godstones you receive as you level up.
You can also decide if you want to focus on dealing a high amount of damage, providing support, or tanking for a team, but you probably won’t go so far in the beta that it will be a crucial element. option. Moreover, you can easily create new characters to test different builds.
Learn Godstone Moves ASAP
Godstones are what really provide Zenith’s combat with VR-infused variety. These are gesture-based abilities assigned to your regenerating MP meter, so you can only do a few at a time before they need to recharge. Whenever you get a new ability, go to your menu and tap the Godstones icon to find out what action or gesture it was assigned to. Sometimes it’s as simple as pulling the trigger when you don’t have a weapon in your hand, sometimes you’ll have to hold down a grip button and move your hand in a certain direction. They’re key to maximizing your damage early on, so you’ll want to keep a close eye on what’s available and how to execute them.
Don’t go too far too fast
If you’re familiar with MMOs, you’ll probably know that there are areas a newbie player just shouldn’t visit. You’ll encounter enemies that are too high in level without the right gear to deal with them properly. This is very true even for early Zenith environments. Once out of town, you’ll want to focus on the first few square meters of land in front of you until you level up a few times. By the time you hit level 5, you’ll be strong enough to dispatch enemies fairly quickly and can branch out into new areas.
Party it up (or do it alone)
It’s quite easy to add friends and party in Zenith. If you’re both on the right server, you’ll find friends in the same virtual place, then just point them, bring up a menu, and click “Add Friend”. From there, you can head to the social tab of your own menu and get the party started. When you’re partying, check the minimap on your left hand for a quick overview of where your friends are (it’s a green icon, though it only shows up if they’re close enough). Likewise, if you’re annoyed to hear people nearby talking to each other, go to the pause menus and tap the headset icon (also the mic icon if you want to mute yourself).
Need Health? Get cooking
Food is your source of health in Zenith. You’ll start with a handful of cookies, but once you’re done, how will you get more? The answer is to make them yourself. In your menu, you will find a cooking icon. Select it, then press ‘Toggle Station’ (make sure you’re in a safe place). This will create a surface for you to cook dishes. Your starter recipe will be for more cookies, which call for sugar, flour, and milk. When you have some, you need to power the cooker by inserting the battery floating in front of you into the socket on the front of the station. Sugar can be poured directly into a cauldron, and milk should be warmed in the pan. The flour is heated in a skillet and you will need to toss it in the air to avoid burning. Put the rest of the ingredients in the cauldron and you will get a cookie. Lucky you.
